Making money with NICHE affiliate programs

Ahhh, selling niche products on the internet. For most of us it is the first part of this business that we try, and the last we master. It looks like it should be so easy to sell those flashy new ski jackets, to market those NEW energy drinks. There are millions and zillions of people on the web, all we need is to reach a few!

The truth is, it's not as big or accessible as it looks. Sure, there are many people spending online, but when there is a cheaper used option on eBay, or a local store for the customer to see the product in person, it is tough to compete with that! Not to mention the producer of the product will always have a bigger budget than you do, and will be your main competition.

So is it possible - or even worth it - to sell niche products online? It definitely can be. But you really need to know your niche, and have some side of inside edge to the marketplace. If you are affiliating with an online dating website, well, anyone can think of something to write about that, and all most should have at least something interesting to say! Then there is an industry like poker, where you can get rich as an affiliate without even knowing what a flush is (but at least knowing how to optimize it as a keyword). No, with a niche market you MUST be an expert in the field.

My two major pieces of advice are this:

Create a brand that people will remember

Don't give up too quickly! Longevity counts.
